Licence agreement
Last updated 2026-09-01.
What this covers
This agreement is between you and the Orbit team ("we", "us") and covers Orbit, the macOS menu bar app: the window switcher, clipboard history, screen capture, system monitor and volume mixer, and the licence key that unlocks Orbit Pro. It does not cover the sale itself — Orbit is sold through Lemon Squeezy, who is the merchant of record for your purchase and whose own terms govern payment, refunds, tax and your order.
What you get
Orbit is free to use, with no account and no time limit, for the clipboard and screen capture. Orbit Pro — the system monitor, the volume mixer and the window switcher — is a $9.99/year subscription, active on up to three Macs at once, with a 14-day trial that needs no card and never touches the store. When the trial ends, or a subscription lapses, Orbit settles back to the free tier rather than locking: nothing you saved is deleted, and nothing that was never Pro-only turns off.
Your licence key is yours to move between your own Macs, up to the seat limit above. It is not yours to share, sell separately from your Lemon Squeezy order, or use to activate Orbit for someone else.
Open source and where the code is
Orbit is built in part on GPL-3.0 code — the window switcher is derived from AltTab and Vorssaint, both GPL-3.0-or-later — and the whole app is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later as a result. NOTICE.md in the app's repository records exactly which parts came from where.
The source is not published by default. Instead, as GPL-3.0 §6(b) allows, this is a standing written offer: email support@orbitmac.com with the version you have — Orbit ▸ Utilities shows it, and it's in the name of the file you downloaded — and we will send you a link to the exact Corresponding Source for that version, at no charge. This offer stands for at least three years from the date that version shipped, and for as long after that as we keep supporting it. Nothing here overrides the licence itself: if any part of this agreement conflicts with GPL-3.0 for the code it covers, the GPL controls that code.
No warranty
Orbit is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from using it, to the extent the law where you are lets us disclaim that.
Governing law
This agreement is governed by the laws of Uruguay. This is about this agreement itself, not your purchase — Lemon Squeezy's own terms, which you agree to separately at checkout, govern the sale.
Changes
We may update this agreement as Orbit changes; the date at the top says when it last did. Continuing to use Orbit after a change means you accept the new terms.
