The short version

Orbit has no account, no server of its own, and no analytics. Everything it reads — your clipboard, screenshots, which processes are using the CPU, which windows are open — is read on your Mac, used on your Mac, and stays on your Mac. The one exception is the speed test, and that's covered below.

What each feature reads, and why

Clipboard history watches the pasteboard so it can keep a local history of what you copy. It's stored on disk, only on this Mac, for as long as you keep it — you can delete individual items or clear all of it at any time.

Screen capture asks for Screen Recording permission to take the screenshot you asked for. What it captures is saved where you choose, nowhere else.

System monitor reads CPU, GPU, memory and per-process figures from macOS itself, to draw the readouts and the breakdowns behind them — never written anywhere, only held in memory while the panel is open.

Volume mixer asks for audio-capture permission to tap an app's own audio and re-render it at the volume you set — that's the whole mechanism per-app volume needs. Nothing is recorded to disk.

Window switcher asks for Accessibility permission to see and control other apps' windows, which is what switching between them means. It reads window titles and, in the styles that show previews, on-screen thumbnails — to draw the switcher, not stored anywhere.

The one thing that leaves your Mac

Network's speed test measures your connection against Cloudflare, and only runs when you press the button for it — never on its own. Orbit's own update checks (Sparkle) reach a static file on this site to see whether a newer version exists; no data about you is sent with that check.

Purchases

Orbit Pro is sold through Lemon Squeezy, who handles your payment details and order directly — Orbit never sees them. Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy covers that part.
